CHOUDRANT, La. – After a strong second round at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate on Monday, the Troy Trojans men's golf team raced into the top 10 and sit alone in ninth place after the team shot a 285.
After shooting a 286 in the opening round on Sunday, the Trojans were one stroke better on Monday and were three under par after 18 holes. The Trojans were one of just six teams who shot under par in round two.
Will McFadden once again paced the Trojans at Squire Creek and led the Troy effort in round two. McFadden had an even start to his day as he registered one bogey and a birdie through his first nine holes. However, the senior was able to finish the day strong with back-to-back birdies on his last two holes to finish two under for the day.
Jake Springer was solid again for the Trojans on Monday and finished the day sitting tied for 27th overall. Like McFadden, Springer marked a bogey and a birdie through his first nine holes only to rebound on the back nine with two birdies and a bogey to conclude his round at minus one for the day.
After a steady first round, Nicklas Borrmann rebounded by recording the most birdies in a round by a Trojan on Monday. He did, however, get off to a rocky start with back-to-back bogeys on his first two holes. However, three birdies in his last six holes on the back nine rectified the rocky start, and he would net two bogeys and two birdies on the front nine to conclude his day at one under par.
Brantley Scott has an inauspicious start to his day, sandwiching a birdie on the 14th hole between a bogey on the 10th hole and a double bogey on 16. He did, however, rebound with two birdies on the front nine to conclude his day at one over par and sits tied for 58th after two days of golf in Louisiana.
George Burch had an even day at the course on Monday. The junior started his day with back-to-back bogeys but settled down with five straight pars before recording his first birdie of the afternoon on the 17th hole. The front nine was similar to the back as the Mobile native bogeyed the fourth hole and birdied the fifth to finish one over on the day.
