CHOUDRANT, La. – The Troy Trojans men's golf team wrapped up the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate on Tuesday with a team score of 287 and rose one spot on the leaderboard to finish the tournament in eighth place out of 22 teams.
The Trojans had their highest shot total of the tournament on Tuesday afternoon but managed to climb one spot to finish eighth. Troy ranked as high as sixth in the tournament during the action at Squire Creek.
Will McFadden had a tremendous start to his day on Tuesday. The senior captured three birdies through his first six holes of the day and held a spot in the top-10 through six holes. The hot start proved vital as he finished the day two over par to finish one under on the day and four under overall.
Jake Springer's scorecard was colorful to start his day. He managed to sandwich two birdies in between two bogeys but would rebound by shooting an even 35 through his first nine holes. After a bogey on the 10th hole placed him one over par for the second time today, the Florida native finished his day with back-to-back birdies.
Brantley Scott had the Trojans climbing through the team leaderboards early on during day three of the tournament. He recorded four birdies and one bogey through his first nine holes but would net a double bogey on the 18th frame to finish his day one over par.
Nicklas Borrmann's first three marks of the day were all bogeys, but one of the bogeys was erased with a birdie on the ninth hole. An early birdie on the 11th hole closed the gap momentarily, but he would finish one over par for the day.
George Burch started his day strong with a birdie on the second hole, but bogeys on the fifth and seventh frames placed him one over par through nine holes. Two birdies and a bogey from Burch evened the score late in his round, but he bogeyed the last hole of the day to finish two over par.
