Crane Leads Troy in Rain-Shortened FAU Classic

PALM BEACH, Fla. – Thomas Crane fired a final round 5-under to lead the Troy men's golf team in the rain-shortened FAU Classic, which wrapped Tuesday morning as teams completed their final holes of the second round at Panther National.

Crane tied for 10^th place at 3-under after he carded four birdies and an eagle in his second round, following a 2-over in a first round that featured three birdies. In the afternoon round, the true freshman eagled the par-5 third and stayed in the red the rest of the day. Making the turn at 1-under, Crane birdied four of his nine holes on the back nine.

Troy finished tied for 10^th place, shooting 9-over in the two rounds. Tarleton State took an 8-shot victory over South Florida, while North Alabama and Abilene Christian rounded out the top four.

Pablo Gracia tied for 25^th place after trading rounds of 1-under and 1-over. He carded three birdies in the morning, shooting a 1-under 71 before coming back with a pair of birdies in a round of 73 in the afternoon. Gracia finished the fall, shooting under-par in eight of his 11 rounds.

Lee Poppell matched Gracia's birdie output in both rounds as he shot 74 and 76 to finish tied for 61st place at 6-over, while Landon Noble tied for 68^th place and Grant Yerger tied for 72^nd.

Troy finished the spring shooting under-par in six of their 11 team rounds, while individual Trojans combined to shoot in the red 23 times, with 12 of those rounds landing in the 60s.

The Trojans are off from competition until The Border Olympics in Laredo, Texas, beginning Feb. 16.
