Troy Travels to Texas to Take on the Mavericks

TROY, Ala. – After a seven-game home stand, the Trojans take their nine-game win streak on the road as they travel to Texas to take on UT-Arlington on March 25-27 from Clay Gould Ball Park.
The streak of nine games won is currently the fourth-longest active streak in the country and continues to match that of the winning streak set by the 2006 Trojans, who had a streak of 14 games won.
In a matchup that dates back to 2014, this will be the first three-game series between the two programs since 2018. These teams met once last year in the Sun Belt Conference tournament with the Mavericks getting the best of Troy.

Reigning Sun Belt pitcher of the week, Garrett Gainous, kicks off the weekend as the Friday starter. Gainous has recorded back-to-back quality starts en route to a 3-1 record leading the Trojans in both innings pitched (25.2) and strikeout (35) categories.
The Trojans are one of three Sun Belt teams that continue to have an earned run average below 4.00 as Brady Fuller (2-1) and Bay Witcher (2-1) follow Gainous on Saturday and Sunday.
The Trojans bats look to remain hot as Cameron Gray and Clay Stearns are each coming off a four-RBI game to give Rigsby Mosley his second career win.
Donovan Whibbs and Seth Johnson head into the weekend, setting new career highs, after reaching base in 10 straight games, while Johnson currently has a five-game hit streak to lead the team.
The Mavericks got swept by South Alabama in the first week of conference play and currently rank towards the bottom of the conference in batting average, earned run average, and fielding percentage.
This weekend, Tanner King, Michael Wong, and Cade Winquest will all get the call for UT-Arlington. The three combined are 1-5 on the season.
