TROY, Ala. – Troy baseball opens its fall exhibition slate Saturday with a doubleheader against Kennesaw State at Mickey Dunn Stadium in Kennesaw, Ga.
First pitch between the Trojans and Owls is set for 12 p.m. ET, with game two scheduled to begin approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one. Admission to the doubleheader is free, marking the first 18 innings of baseball played at Kennesaw State's brand-new Mickey Dunn Stadium.
The Trojans return 14 players from last year's squad that climbed as high as No. 14 nationally under head coach Skylar Meade. Among the key returners are standout hitters Blake Cavill, Jimmy Janicki, and Sean Darnell, each of whom played pivotal roles in Troy's success last spring.
Meade and staff reloaded the Trojan clubhouse with 24 talented newcomers, highlighted by the nation's No. 19 transfer portal class according to 64Analytics. Power bats Nico Azpilcueta (Stony Brook) and Jabe Boroff (Enterprise State CC) join the Trojans after crushing 20 and 18 home runs, respectively, while newcomers Blake Dean (Kansas State), Tommy Egan (Illinois-Chicago), and Zach Crotchfelt (Texas Tech) are a few of many new faces on the mound primed to take on large roles.
Following this weekend's exhibition, Troy will continue its fall schedule with a series of intrasquad scrimmages at Riddle-Pace Field, with dates and times posted weekly on the Troy Baseball Instagram and X accounts. The Trojans will also take the field against Samford on November 9 at historic Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Ala.
