Burch Leads Men's Golf on Day Two of SBC Championship

EL DORADO, Ark. – Troy climbed one spot into ninth place following Monday's second round of the Sun Belt Conference Men's Golf Championship behind the strength of a 1-over 73 from freshman George Burch at the Mystic Creek Golf Club.
Burch shot up 23 spots on the individual leaderboard into a tie for 24th place after carding three birdies – which matched Troy's team total from the opening round. He made the turn at 1-over with a birdie on the par-5 18th and made it back-to-back birdies with a four on the par-5 first.
Mystic Creek once again proved to be a challenging track with the average score posted by golfers checking in at 78.63 for the day, up half a stroke from the opening round.
Little Rock passed No. 43 Georgia Southern for the team lead and carries a two-stroke advantage into Tuesday's final round. UT Arlington sits in third place eight shots back of Little Rock while App State and ULM are tied for fourth. The top four teams following Tuesday's round will advance to match play to determine the Sun Belt champion.
Nicklas Borrmann also made a move on Monday with a nine-spot jump into a tie for 42nd after shooting 4-over. After a rough start that saw him make the turn at 5-over, Borrmann birdied his first three holes on his back nine to get his round back on track.
Brent Hamm and Will McFadden are tied for 29th place at 12-over for the week after shooting rounds of 80 and 81, respectively. Hamm had four birdies on the day but struggled with a pair of triple bogeys while McFadden dropped in a pair of birdies. Reagan Harrell shot 16-over on and is in 56th place.
Troy will be in the final group to go off No. 10 for Tuesday's final round along with South Alabama and Georgia State with the first threesome scheduled for a 9:15 a.m. tee time.
