Men’s Golf Wraps Day One in Little Rock & Turtle Point

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Despite three eagles on the day, two from Lee Poppell, the Troy men's golf team is in 15^th place following Monday's opening two rounds of the Everett Buick GMC Classic.

Poppell carded a pair of eagles and four birdies in a round of 7-under in the morning but struggled in the second round, carding a 10-over 82, with just one birdie, to finish three over on the day and in 50^th place.

Pablo Gracia added Troy's third eagle of the day, a three on the 538-yard ninth, during a 4-under second round in which he added four additional birdies. Gracia shot 2-over in the first round despite three birdies and is tied for 22^nd place at 2-under.

Troy shot even-par in the morning but slipped to 11-over in the afternoon to find itself in 15^th place and 14 shots off a top 10 finish. Little Rock shot 23-under as a team and has an 11-shot advantage over Southern Miss, while Lipscomb, Coastal Carolina and James Madison round out the top five.

Thomas Crane and Landon Noble combined for 12 birdies – six each – as the pair are tied for 75^th place at 8-over, while Grant Yerger, who is tied for the tournament lead with 26 pars, is in 78^th place at 9-over.

Competing as individuals at the Turtle Point Invite, Lawton Emblom turned in nine birdies and shot a pair of rounds in the red in his first collegiate action to finish the day 3-under and tied for 12^th place. His twin brother, Haston, shot 3-over with six birdies to close the day tied for 41^st place, while Pierce Becker is tied for 30^th at 1-over, including a 3-under 69 in the first round.
