Men’s Golf Fires Low Round; Futrell Tied for First

RUSTON, La. – Troy fired the low round of the day to climb four spots into a tie for fourth place following Monday's second round of the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate at the Squire Creek Golf Club. Connor Futrell paced four Trojans under par with a 3-under 69, and he is tied for the individual lead.
Troy shot 10-under on the back nine among the four golfers who counted towards the team card with nine birdies and an eagle. Futrell made the turn 1-over before an eagle on the par-5 No. 11 pushed him in the red and birdies on No. 14 and No. 17 gave him his fourth round under par in five rounds this season.
Futrell is tied with Central Arkansas' Trey DePriest for the individual lead at 6-under while Brent Hamm is three shots back in a tie for seventh place. Hamm skyrocketed seven spots up the leaderboard thanks to a 2-under 70 on Monday.
The Trojans shot 8-under as a team in the round, two shots better than leader Georgia and three better than second-place Texas State. Troy enters Tuesday's final round just a shot back of Louisiana Tech for third and 10 shots behind Georgia.
Will McFadden rebounded from tough opening round where he shot 9-over to card a 2-under 70 in the second round with four birdies. He climbed 25 spots into 55th place while Jake Tiffin jumped 16 spots into a tie for 22nd with a round of 1-under after closing with back-to-back birdies.
Nicklas Borrmann also had a big bounce-back round as he shaved 10 strokes off his opening round tally thanks to five birdies en route to a 1-over 73 and a tie for 68th place. Troy's two individuals also had solid days with Ryan Morrison carding an even-par round and Bryson Bianco shooting 3-over on the day.
Troy's foursome for Tuesday's final round features Central Arkansas, UAB and Mercer. Teams will play a shotgun start beginning at 8 a.m.
