Troy Drops Game Two Against No. 17 Louisiana

LAFAYETTE, La. – Troy softball dropped game two against no. 17 Louisiana 11-7 to for Friday evening at Lamson Park.
Taylor McKinney, Anslee Finch and D'Aun Riggs all picked up two hits apiece, while the Troy (33- 20, 13-10 SBC) offense recorded 10 hits in the game.
Troy got hot early in the game against Louisiana (39-16, 21-2 SBC). Jade Sinness and Riggs picked up back-to-back singles, while McKinney reached on an error to load the bases, with Libby Baker at the dish. Baker launched the first pitch she saw out of the park for a grand slam. The Ragin' Cajuns got two quick outs when Cassidy Boltz singled to center field and Sarah Beth Brake sent a home run over the left-field line, putting Troy up 6-0.
The Trojans picked up where they left off in the second frame with a two-out rally led by Anslee Finch. With McKinney on base, after she singled to the pitcher, Finch fired one up the middle, scoring McKinney and piling on to Troy's lead 7-0.
Louisiana began to answer back at the bottom of the second inning on a two-out rally with a two-run home run from Cecilia Vasquez.
The Ragin' Cajuns hung a five-spot to tie the game in the third frame. Louisiana loaded the bases on a single, a hit-by-pitch and a walk. A double from Sam Roe allowed two Ragin' Cajuns to score two runs. A single to Savannah Money followed by a wild pitch allowed another two runs to score. A solo shot came shortly after from Victoria Valdez to tie the game at 7-7.
Louisiana took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when Kayla Falterman doubled down the left line. A single from Hayden brought Falterman home while Hayden advanced to third from a Trojan error. Laney Credeur sent Hadyen home with a ground out, giving Louisiana a 9-7 lead.'
Louisiana hung another two runs in the sixth inning on singles from Falterman and Hayden to the outfield and one Troy error.
Baker, Alyssa Faircloth, Savannah Money and Kate Peters all saw action in the circle tonight. Money was tagged with her second loss of the season, while the staff as a whole gave up two walks.
Notable
- Libby Baker hit her 12 home runs, 32 of her career. She now moves to sixth in the all-time career home run leaders.
- Sarah Beth Brake hit her seventh home run of the season.
- D'Aun Riggs and Anless Finch batted .500 percent.
- The Troy offense picked up 10 hits in this evening's game. This marked the 16 time the Trojans have hit double digits.
