SAN MARCOS, Texas – Audra Thompson led Troy to victory with a game-winning home run in the 12 inning over the No. 23 Texas State Bobcats Sunday afternoon at Bobcat Softball Stadium.

Troy (27-15, 7-5 SBC) struck first in the second inning with an Anslee Finch double and a Sarah Beth Brake walk, with both runners advancing on a passed ball, putting Finch and Brake in scoring position. With Jillian Williams up at the plate, the freshman continued her impressive weekend with a sacrifice fly, scoring Finch and giving the Trojans a 1-0 lead.

Texas State (32-0, 9-3 SBC) broke the 1-0 stalemate in the fourth inning when JJ Smith hit a home run, tying the game at 1-1. A few pitches later, a Texas State RBI single from Piper Randolph would put the Bobcats on top for the first time in the game at 2-1.

In the seventh, D'Aun Riggs would start a two-out rally with a single, and Baker would draw a walk to give Thompson base runners as she stepped up to the dish. Thompson ripped one down the left field line for a stand-up double that turned into extra bases with a Bobcat error scoring Riggs and pinch runner Savannah Money, 3-2. This signaled a pitching change for Texas State, bringing in Madison Azua, who would end the inning.

In the bottom half of the seventh, Texas State's Hannah Earls would get on base with a bunt before Piper Randolph had an RBI double to tie the game, sending it into extra innings at 3-3.

Neither team could scratch off a run through four frames until the 12th inning, when Thompson mashed a 1-2 pitch over the left field wall, breaking the tie and giving the Trojans a 4-3 victory.
