Troy Hits The Road for Conference Matchup Against Georgia Southern

Troy, Ala. – The Troy softball team is preparing to head to Statesboro, Georgia for a weekend series against Georgia Southern. The Trojans (29-16, 9-6 SBC) are looking to continue their hot streak where they have won three of their last four games, including a 4-3 win over then No.23 Texas State and a series win over ULM.
Libby Baker and Jade Sinness headline the high-powered Troy offense. The tandem bolsters a .369 and a .362 average respectively and have combined for 18 home runs, 75 RBIs, 16 doubles and 168 total bases.
Baker also headlines the Trojans's pitching rotation. The two-way senior leads the team with a 3.53 ERA and bolsters a 12-8 record. Baker has seen the majority of the action for Troy in the circle with 119 innings pitched and has limited opposing batters to a .245 batting average while recording 51 strikeouts.
Georgia Southern (22-18, 5-10 SBC) heads into this matchup after dropping eight of its last 11 games. The Eagles started off strong in tournament play, however they haven't been able to find their rhythm in conference play.
Emma Davis has been one of the few bright spots in Georgia Southern's lineup this season. The sophomore outfielder has a .368 batting average with 46 hits and 11 RBIs.
Although her record doesn't reflect it, freshman Anslie Pettit has been incredible to start her collegiate career. The Ball Ground, Georgia native bolsters a 2.07 ERA over 20 appearances and 101.1 innings of work. Pettit has struck out 97 batters and has only allowed nine walks this season.

Jade Sinness is sitting on the verge of history. The senior has 48 career doubles and is two away from having the second-most career doubles in program history. Katie Webb is currently sitting in second place with 50.

Libby Baker currently has 30 career home runs. The senior has smashed the sixth most home runs in program history and is sitting behind current teammate Jade Sinness who is in fifth place with 33 bombs.

Friday's game will be the 46th matchup between these programs of all time. The Trojans have come away with much of the success from this series and has a record of 31-15 against the Eagles.

Troy is tied for third place in the conference with ULM and South Alabama with a 9-6 record. The Trojans sit one game behind Texas State in second place who has a 10-5 record in conference play.
