TROY, Ala. – Troy softball downed ULM 4-2 in game two on Saturday afternoon at the Troy Softball Complex.
ULM's (26-16, 9-5) bats got hot early when right fielder Meagan Brown had a two-run homer to put the Warhawks on the board in the game's first frame.
It would take Troy (28-16, 8-6 SBC) until the third frame to respond when Natalie Turner would draw a walk and Jade Sinness singled to the pitcher giving Libby Baker base runners on two outs. Baker at the plate would rip one to left field, scoring Turner and cutting ULM's lead in half.
The Trojans would continue to pile on the runs in the next inning when two walks and one hit would load the bases for Troy with Rebekah Johnson at the dish. Johnson drew a six-pitch walk, evening the score 2-2. With the bases still loaded and one out on the board, Sinness ground out to the first basemen but scored pinch runner Jaida McCord, giving Troy its 3-2 lead, before a ground out ended the inning.
Baker would pick up where she left off from earlier in the game in the bottom half of the fifth inning. Where she would take pitch number three for a ride over the center field wall, giving Troy a 4-2 lead where it would stay until the final out of the game.
Savannah Money saw her longest outing of the season with six innings pitched. She went into the game in relief for Alyssa Faircloth, who gave up two earned runs. Money would shut down the ULM offense, only giving up three hits and punching out a career-high three batters.
Thoughts from Eric Newell
"Today was a good day, we got back in the win column. ULM is a tough team and hard to defend, but it was good to see how we responded from yesterday's game to today. I thought we were sharp defensively. We had some key hits and at-bats, and Savannah Money did a fantastic job in relief.

Troy will take on ULM for the final time on Sunday at noon for game three.
