Women’s Tennis Wins Sixth Straight, Sweeps ULM

TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's tennis dominated ULM on Saturday afternoon, as it won 7-0 at the Lunsford Tennis Complex en route to its sixth-straight win in conference play.
Troy (13-6, 7-2 SBC) has now won its most conference matches since joining the Sun Belt in 2004. With two matches left to play, Troy currently sits third in the SBC standings.
From the start of doubles play, it was all Trojans. Maria Guirguis and Valeriia Avdeeva opened the match with a 6-0 victory in the number one doubles spot. Hagar Ramadan-Amin and Leena Metwally followed with a 6-3 win in the number three spot to clinch the early 1-0 lead. Troy has now won the doubles point in each of the last six matches and is 10-0 this season when scoring the first point.
The number two doubles match went unfinished with Troy leading 5-4.
In singles, the Trojans continued their impressive play. Metwally added Troy's second point of the day with a 6-0, 6-1 win on court five. She moves to 13-4 this spring. Gabrielle Leslie won 6-2, 6-0 on six to make it 3-0. She is now a team-best 16-1 this spring.
Senior Kristina Kukaras clinched the team victory for the Trojans on court one with a 6-4, 6-3 win. The remaining three matches were played out.
On court three Guirguis won 0-6, 6-1, 6-3 to make it 5-0. Avdeeva won 7-5, 6-3 on court four to make it 6-0. The final match – court two – saw Ramdan-Amin win 6-2, 6-2 to close out the dual.
The Trojans are now 66-42 this season in singles play.
