Women’s Tennis Travels to Arkansas State

TROY, Ala. – Coming off a 2-0 weekend, Troy women's tennis takes to the road as they continue to move towards the Sun Belt Tournament. Tomorrow's date with Arkansas State marks one of three remaining regular season matches for the Trojans.
Last weekend, the Trojans took down both Southern Miss and No. 69 South Alabama, 4-1 to bolster their strongest start in conference play since 2019.
Maria Guirguis moved to 13-0 on the season after defeating previous Sun Belt Player of the Week, Rio Maeda in straight sets. Alexia Zarate has crafted a four-match singles winning streak, adding to her total of six wins from the No. 4 position.
In doubles play the duo of Avdeeva and Guirguis went 2-0 to earn Sun Belt Doubles Team of the Week honors. The pair is 9-3 on the season and 7-3 in their last 10 matches including a victory over former conference doubles team of the week Rio Maeda and Jana Rovira.
Saturday's match with Troy concludes a late week split for the Arkansas State. On Friday, the Red Wolves will host UAB to start a four-match homestand to end the regular season. This weekend's match is set for 11 a.m., but inclement weather could move first serve to 10 a.m., at the RidgePointe Country Club.
