Troy Takes Down No. 69 South Alabama

TROY, Ala. – In its fourth straight conference victory Troy defeated No. 69 South Alabama, 4-1. This win marks the sixth straight victory for the Trojans.
After a short weather delay, Troy set the tone for the day by taking the doubles point. Hiba Heni and Leena Metwally were the first duo to claim victory by toppling Ava Rath and Jada Mariem 6-2. Valeriia Avdeeva and Maria Guirguis secured the doubles point by taking down the reigning conference Doubles Team of the Week of Jana Rovira and Rio Maeda, 6-3.
Valeriia Avdeeva carried her momentum into her match against Christina Tchanichev who she defeated swiftly, 6-3, 6-2. Leena Metwally moved the score to 3-1 in favor of the Trojans by claiming victory over Manal Ennaciri. Leena Metwally closed the door on the Jaguars and moved to 13-0 on the season after overcoming the reigning conference Player of the Week Rio Maeda, 6-3 and 7-5.
The Trojans are set to return to action Saturday Apr. 4, as they take on Arkansas State in Jonesboro.
