TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's tennis team looks to bounce back after a rough 0-2 week as they welcome Samford on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. and Mercer on Saturday at 10 a.m. Fans can follow all the action through Troystats.com.
Troy (5-3) struggled last week as they fell 5-2 against both Belmont and Middle Tennessee. The Trojans have struggled on the road early in the season – 2-3 – but have yet to lose a match at home going 3-0 to open the spring.
The Trojans continue to be led in singles play by Gabrielle Leslie and her perfect 8-0 record. Leslie went 2-0 last week and was announced as the Sun Belt Women's Tennis Player of the Week earlier today. Leslie is the only undefeated player for the Trojans this spring who has appeared in more than two singles matches.
Also having a strong start to their spring season is Leena Metwally, who has compiled a 6-1 record. Metwally and Leslie have provided consistent high-level play for the Trojans in the No. 5 and No. 6 spots this season.
Troy will look to improve their doubles play, which has struggled this spring. Troy is 4-4 in doubles and is 1-3 in matches this spring when losing the doubles point.
Scouting Samford
The Bulldogs enter Thursday afternoon with a 3-5 record and having lost three straight matches. In Samford's last outing, it fell 5-2 at South Alabama.

Mercer's top singles player this spring has been Teodora Ristic and her team-best 6-1 record. All six of her wins have come in the top spot. Lea Falentin has also been impressive this spring with a 5-1 record while bouncing between the No. 3 and No. 4 spots.
