LAREDO, Texas – Brantley Scott fired a pair of rounds under par, Lee Poppell shot a second round 67 and Troy men's golf is in fifth place following Monday's two rounds of the Border Olympics, hosted by Houston at the Laredo Country Club.

Scott fired a 1-under 70 in the opening round and followed with a 2-under 70 during his second run through the course and sits in a tie for 15^th place heading into Tuesday's final 18 holes. Scott carded nine birdies on the day, with three in the morning and six during the afternoon session.

Troy fired an 8-under 280 during the second round, thanks to Poppell's 5-under to climb into fifth place after shooting 2-under in the first round. The Trojans are just 13 shots back of Illinois State, which leads the event. North Texas sits in second place, just five shots clear of Troy.

Jake Springer and Will Simpson are tied for 24^th place after shooting 1-under across the two rounds, while Poppell is tied for 31^st place. Poppell carded a 77 in the morning but responded with five birdies and no bogies during the second round. Nick Fowlkes shot matching 72s and is tied with Poppell for 31^st place.
