Men’s Golf Looks to Stay Hot at Irish Creek Intercollegiate

TROY, Ala. – Coming off its best finish of the season, the Troy men's golf team is back in action this week at the Irish Creek Intercollegiate, hosted by App State at The Club Irish Creek in Kannapolis, N.C., on Monday and Tuesday.

The Trojans finished fourth at the Memphis Intercollegiate last week, including multiple victories over teams that had Troy's number earlier in the season. Pablo Gracia, Lee Poppell and Thomas Crane all turned in under-par rounds and all finished inside the top 15 at the event.

Gracia carried Troy's top back for the first time since mid-October as he finished in a tie for 10th place, shooting 4-over. It snapped a streak of three straight top finishes by Lee Poppell, who was two shots back of Gracia in a tie for 15th with Crane. The trio has combined for 29 rounds under par this season, paced by Poppell's 12.

Troy's youth movement was on full display last week in Memphis with freshmen Lawton and Haston Emblom in the lineup together for the first time, joining Crane, also a freshman.

The Irish Creek Intercollegiate is the second of three straight tournaments for the Trojans before the Sun Belt Championship.

The Trojans will play along with App State, Lehigh and Howard beginning on holes one through four at 8 a.m. (CT).
