Men’s Golf Wraps Play at Argent Financial Classic

RUSTON, La. – Jake Springer and Pablo Gracia shot matching rounds of 2-under in Tuesday's final round of the Argent Financial Classic at Squire Creek. Troy shot 12-over as a team in the season opener and finished 13^th overall.

Springer tied for 19^th individually to lead the Trojans as he finished 1-under for the week, while Gracia wrapped his first collegiate event in a tie for 23^rd place at even par. Springer carded five birdies on the day and finished the week with 11 birdies in his 54 holes.

UAB, Louisiana and Southern Miss tied for the team title at 9-under par, followed by Houston at 7-under and Middle Tennessee at 5-under. Central Arkansas tumbled seven spots from the top of the leaderboard entering Tuesday's final round to eighth place, while Troy finished four shots ahead of South Alabama.

Gracia played a clean round Tuesday with birdies on the par-5 17^th and par-4 seventh and pars on his 16 other attempts. Lee Poppell tied for 52^nd place at 5-over in his first tournament with the Trojans after carding four birdies en route to a 75 on Tuesday, while Brantley Scott birdied twice and shot 6-over to finish tied for 67^th place. George Burch closed out play with a 6-over 78 and tied for 86^th place in the field.

Troy heads to the Limestone Springs Golf Course on Sept. 24-26 for the Graeme McDowell Invitational hosted by UAB.
