Men’s Golf Continues Spring at Memphis Intercollegiate

TROY, Ala. – The Troy men's golf team travels Cordova, Tenn., for the annual Memphis Intercollegiate hosted at the Colonial Country Club.

The Trojans have played strong golf in three of their last four rounds as head coach Clay Bounds continues to look for consistency from his young lineup. Troy has played with multiple freshmen and with more than 50 percent of his lineup comprised of underclassmen in every event this season.

First the first time this year, three of Troy's counting scores will be freshmen as Haston Emblom, Lawton Emblom and Thomas Crane will be among the Trojans' top five for the event. Upperclass staples Pablo Gracia and Lee Poppell fill out the other two spots.

Troy show 9-under in the final round of the Golden Nugget Invitational at the beginning of the month and sat in fourth place following two rounds of the Seminole Intercollegiate last time out before a tough final 18.

Poppell has led the Trojans in three straight events, shooting a combined 3-under in the events, with five rounds under par. He leads Troy with 11 rounds in the red this season, while Gracia has a team-best seven rounds in the 60s among his 10 total rounds under-par. Additionally, Gracia and Poppell have had 39 of their 40 collective rounds count towards the team card.

Crane shot 2-under at the Golden Nugget and is third on the team with five rounds under-par this year. The Emblom twins have played together just once this season, at the Turtle Point Invite, an individual tournament back in the fall.
