CORDOVA, Tenn. – Lee Poppell and Thomas Crane shot rounds in the red on Monday's opening day of the Memphis Intercollegiate at the Colonial Country Club; Troy is in seventh place heading into Tuesday's final round.

Poppell shot 1-under in the second round for his team-leading 12th round under-par this season after shooting 5-over in the morning session. He is tied for 22nd place individually, a shot ahead of Lawton Emblom and Palbo Gracia, who are tied for 30th. Emblom had a pair of birdies in each of his rounds on Monday to shoot 73 and 76, while Gracia finished with five birdies over his rounds of 73 and 76.

Memphis is the lone team under-par as the Tigers shot 8-under and sit 16 shots ahead of Eastern Kentucky in second. Troy shot 15-over as a team, just seven shots back of EKU in seventh.

Crane struggled in the opening round as he shot an 8-over 80, but he rallied back to card three birdies and just one bogey in the afternoon for a 2-under 70 and his sixth under-par round of the year to move into a tie for 33rd.

Haston Emblom finished his day with three birdies and is tied for 39th place, while Pierce Becker is tied for 53rd and Landon Noble sits in 57th.

Troy will play Tuesday's final round with Lipscomb and Dayton beginning on the eighth hole for the shotgun start.
