Staring in all 54 regular-season games, senior shortstop Jesse Hall has been leading the Trojan offense all season. His .316 batting average, 45 runs, 67 hits, 19 doubles, and 42 runs batted in all rank first among Trojans. Hall connected for four doubles in the series opener against Appalachian State, giving him a tie for the most in a single game by a Troy player.
For the second time in his career, Rigsby Mosley received All-Sun Belt Second Team honors for his performance during the 2022 season. Mosley, who was selected to his first All-Sun Belt Team back in 2018 as an outfielder, is honored this season for his stellar play both in the outfield and on the mound. This season, Mosley stepped onto the pitcher's mound for the first time in his Trojan career after starting 24 games in the outfield. Coming out of the bullpen, Mosley eventually became a weekend starter by the end of the season.
Starting nine games for Troy, Mosley held a 3.13 earned run average and was 3-0 during the regular season. In 46 innings pitched, the Maitland, Fla. native struck out 47 batters with only 11 walks while holding opposing hitters to a .196 batting average which was the lowest on the team. He will get the start for the Trojans and go against Michael Knorr of the Chanticleers.
Entering the matchup, the Chanticleers rank fourth in both team batting (.292) and team pitching (4.75). They are led by Sun Belt Pitcher of the Year Reid VanScoter, who is on 9-2 on the season with a 3.06 ERA. He leads the league with 80 strikeouts in 82.1 innings pitched.
