Troy Travels to Southern Miss Tuesday

TROY, Alabama – Troy wraps up its non-conference slate on Tuesday with a trip to Southern Miss at Pete Taylor Park; first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.

The Trojans (27-25, 14-13 Sun Belt) are coming off their sixth Sun Belt Conference series victory over the past seven weeks after winning two-of-three from ULM this past weekend. Troy, which is two games back of first in the Sun Belt East, closes out its regular season this weekend with a three-game set at South Alabama.

Reed Smith had a breakout weekend at the plate for the Trojans batting at a .545 clip (6-for-11) with a double and a triple as the Trojans hit .396 as a team with 21 extra-base hits against the Warhawks. Rigsby Mosley, who now ranks second in the Sun Belt with a .349 average for the season, hit .500 over the weekend with three doubles and a home run with seven RBIs.

Troy enters the final week of the season ranked 16^thnationally with 110 doubles and 23^rdwith 61 home runs. The Trojans' home run total is their most since the NCAA changed the bats prior to the 2011 season while Troy has reached the century mark in doubles for the 10^thtime in the last 14 seasons.

The Trojans are also up to 27^thnationally with a .463 slugging percentage as a team thanks to a power surge over their last 15 games. Over that stretch, Troy is batting .320 as a team with a .595 slugging percentage and .389 on-base percentage with 44 doubles, seven triples and 30 home runs.

Scouting Southern Miss
Southern Miss enters the final weekend of its C-USA schedule tied with Florida Atlantic for the league lead despite dropping back-to-back conference series. The Golden Eagles are 20-6 at home this season including a victory over Ole Miss to open the month of May. Bryant Bowen leads the Southern Miss offensive attack batting at a .341 clip with 10 doubles and 10 home runs.
