Troy (10-9, 5-5) has not played since last Thursday when it lost to Appalachian State, 96-81, in the Trojans' fourth game in eight days. The loss was Troy's fourth straight, a streak that has come just after a five-game winning streak. The previous three losses had all been by four points or less, but App State came to Trojan Arena and shot 50 percent overall, 62 percent in the second half, to grab the win.
Ashley Beverly Kelley scored 22 points for Troy in the loss, including 15 in the fourth quarter. She is still the Sun Belt's leading scorer in all games at 19.1 per game and in Sun Belt games at 19.6 per game. Beverly Kelley was 9-of-9 at the free throw line against App State and also leads the league at 87.2 percent from the line this season.
Beverly Kelley has 1,678 career points, the most among all active Sun Belt players. Her 234 career steals are also the most among active players and the 20th most in the Sun Belt's 30-plus year history. She is just five steals away from moving into a tie for 15th.
Caitlyn Ramirez is Troy's second leading scorer at 13.1 points per game, ranking ninth in the Sun Belt, despite averaging at least 5.0 minutes per game less than everybody else in the top 10. The junior scored 15 points against the Mountaineers on 6-of-9 shooting, upping her season field goal percentage to 55.8 percent, the second best in the Sun Belt.
As a team, Troy is still fifth in the NCAA and first in the Sun Belt in scoring at 83.4 points per game. The Trojans also remain fifth in the NCAA as they force 23.5 turnovers per game.
Little Rock (8-11, 6-4) has won three straight games, including two dominant defensive performances at home last week where they beat Georgia Southern, 69-36, and Georgia State, 59-32. Little Rock held the Eagles and Panthers to under 10 points in five of eight quarters. Georgia State shot just 26 percent overall and had nine points at halftime.
Little Rock is 4-1 at the Jack Stephens Center in Sun Belt play, with the lone loss coming to UL Lafayette. That loss snapped a streak of 25 straight home Sun Belt wins.
Little Rock leads the all-time series, 14-3, but Troy has won the last two meetings, including earlier this season at Trojan Arena, 78-71. Troy has won three straight over Little Rock in Trojan Arena, but Troy is 0-7 all-time at the Jack Stephens Center.
