TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's basketball team continues to bolster its 2026-27 roster with the addition of North Carolina Central transfer Aniya Finger.
"Aniya is the exact player that we needed at this time," head coach Chanda Rigby said. "She adds skill, athleticism and experience to our roster. She is coming to Troy determined to make her last year her best year. She raises our ceiling for what we can accomplish in the upcoming season."
Finger became the third transfer and eighth overall signing for the 2026-27 season, joining Hannah Smith, Jamonica Chambers, Kiaya Davis, Kimora Hughes, Maliyah Meeks, Taliah Martin, and Tiauna King for the newest class.
Originally signing to Winston-Salem State in 2020-21, COVID sent Finger to North Carolina Central in 2021-22. After redshirting, she played 21 games in 2022-23 with a team-high 48.2 field goal percentage. She also led the team with 7.2 rebounds, while having 8.2 points and 1.4 steals. Her season-high of 21 points came against N.C. Wesleyan and her season-best 17 boards came against Howard. This led to her earning Preseason All-MEAC Third Team for 2023-24.
In 2023-24, she played in 15 games with four starts for 8.8 points and 5.4 rebounds before sitting out until 2025-26. In 2025-26, Finger averaged 11.8 points (sixth in the MEAC), 6.1 rebounds (tied for seventh in the MEAC), 1.5 steals and 1.3 assists en route to an All-MEAC Second Team and BOXTOROW HBCU Second Team All-American nods. She also shot 42.1 percent from deep with 1.5 3-pointers per game, leading the Eagles to rank in the top-15 nationally for bench points per game. A native of Charlotte, N.C., Finger scored double figures 17 times, including a career-high of 30 against Maryland Eastern Shore.
