Women’s Basketball Rounds Out 2026-27 Roster with Tayla Barros

TROY, Ala. – With its ninth and final signing for the 2026-27 roster, head coach Chanda Rigby signed Tayla Barros from Harcum College.
"Tayla is exactly the player that we needed to sign to round out this roster," Rigby said. "We needed a guard that could handle and distribute the ball like a true point guard, while also possessing the ability to score like a shooting guard. She is confident and effective at both, and she is a strong addition to our squad."
Barros started her collegiate career at Daemen in 2023-24, where she redshirted before debuting in 2024-25 against Felician. She went on to play in 26 games, recording 31 points, 29 rebounds, 21 assists, nine steals and a block. Her season-high of seven points and two rebounds came against the District of Columbia. The 5-9 guard helped come off the bench to boost Daemen to a 22-8 record, along with a fourth straight ECC tournament title, sixth straight regular season title and a trip to the NCAA Women's Basketball East Region Tournament.
The Boston, Mass. Native transferred to Harcum College for the 2025-26 season, starting in 27 of her 28 games played for 15.9 points, 5.3 assists, 5.7 rebounds, three steals and a block. She set the tone in her debut with Harcum, having 17 points, five rebounds, five assists, three steals and a block against SUNY Niagara. She went on to have 23 double-digit scoring performances, including a pair of 30-plus-point games. Her career high came against Middlesex, ending with 31 points on 11 field goals – she also had a career-high of eight steals. Barros managed to score 10-plus points in 17 straight games from Nov. 22 to Feb. 14.
