Troy Dominates Singles in Win at UL Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, Louisiana – The Troy men's tennis team played its first Sun Belt opponent, and moved its streak to eight straight against the league, with a 4-2 win over UL Lafayette at Cajun Courts on Thursday.
Troy (2-9), the defending Sun Belt champion, dropped the doubles points to UL Lafayette (5-6), but dominated in singles play and picked up a big win over one of its top competitors for a second straight conference title.
The Ragin' Cajuns actually took a 2-0 lead in the match with a win at No. 2 singles, but Danile Bustamante quickly followed with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Arthur Libaud at No. 1.
Pablo Moreno then won his fifth straight match with a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 4 to even the team score, 2-2. Giovani Samaha was the next Trojan to win in straight sets, beating Edgar Lopez at No. 3 singles, 7-5, 6-3.
Mustapha Belcora clinched the win for Troy with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 win over Eric Perez at No. 5 singles.
Troy returns to the court tomorrow when it travels to take on New Orleans at the University Tennis Center.
