TULSA, Okla. – The Troy men's tennis team opened its fall tournament schedule in Tulsa, Okla., on Saturday, falling in two close matches to go into the consolation bracket on Sunday.
Ausias Martin Melo opened the day in singles play for the Round of 256 against Wisconsin's Tomas Zlatohlavek. Martin Melo battled in the first set before dropping it 6-2; he dropped the second set 6-0 to fall into the consolation bracket.
Later in the afternoon, Luciano Alcocer and Stephan Tavares Noale paired up for doubles play to face Penn's Shaurya Bharadwaj and Vojtech Vales. The duo kept the first set close before Penn took set one 6-4. The Trojans pushed the second set further until they suffered the 7-5 loss.
Sunday's action in the consolation bracket begins at 9:30 a.m. when Martin Melo takes on Georgia's Maxime Dubouch.
