No. 64 Troy Travels to No. 2 Oklahoma for ITA Kick-Off Weekend

TROY, Alabama – The No. 64 Troy men's tennis team will continue its tough schedule this weekend, taking part in the prestigious ITA Kick-Off Weekend. The Trojans will travel to No. 2 Oklahoma to join the Sooners, No. 66 UTSA and Utah State in the two-day event.

Troy will take on UTSA on Saturday at 10 a.m. The winner and loser of that match will take on the winner and loser, respectively, of Oklahoma and Utah State on Sunday. The entire ITA Kick-Off Weekend features 60 teams playing at 15 sites. The 15 teams that win both matches at the 15 sites advance to the 2016 ITA National Team Indoor Championships, hosted by Virginia.

Troy (0-3) started the season with three tough road matches, falling at No. 36 Louisville, No. 24 Florida and No. 19 Ole Miss all within a five-day span. Pablo Moreno and Mustapha Belcora both picked up singles wins over the weekend for the Trojans.

UTSA (0-1) opened its season with a loss at No. 5 Texas A&M last weekend. Utah State (1-2) fell from the ITA National Rankings after losses last weekend to No. 35 Drake and No. 71 Iowa. Oklahoma (0-0) played in a hidden dual tournament last weekend against No. 43 Georgia Tech, Ole Miss and No. 7 Georgia.
