Men’s Tennis Defeats Alabama State, 5-2

TROY, Ala. - Troy men's tennis earned its 12th straight win on Thursday, defeating Alabama State, 5-2 at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
Alabama State won two of three matches to open the day, winning the doubles point. Despite Luciano Alcocer and Yeray Andres Pastor winning, 6-2 on Court 1, the Hornets' Eloi Roux and Milan Ristov fought back from a 2-5 deficit to clinch the point following a 6-3 Alabama State win on Court 2.
Troy (19-4) moved on quickly in singles, winning five of six first sets. Louis Boilevin was the first to finish, dropping just one game on Court 6, 6-0, 6-1.
Hiiro Sakamoto finished shortly after, closing out his match on Court 4, 6-1, 6-1. The win moved Sakamoto to 17-0 in dual matches this season. Luciano Alcocer also won his match in straight sets, winning 6-1, 6-4 on Court 2.
Troy officially clinched the match as Yeray Andres Pastor earned his ninth-straight match, winning on Court 3, 7-5, 6-2.
The teams played out the remaining two matches, with Ausias Martin Melo winning on Court 1.
The Trojans will play their third conference foe of the season on Sunday as they host Georgia Southern. First serve is set for 10 a.m. from the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
