TROY, Ala. – Starting the match off by losing the doubles point, Troy men's tennis continued to fight back against Southern Miss in the singles play, claiming the 4-2 win Sunday morning.

Troy (18-4) lost to its competition during the doubles matches as sophomore Jose Murariu and senior Saheb Sodhi won against sophomore Henrique de Brito and Thiago Drozdowski on Court 1, 6-3, while freshman Julius Bult and graduate student Eric Perkowski defeated senior Yeray Andres Pastor and freshman Stephan Tavares Noale, 6-2, on Court 3.

Things started to look up for the Trojans later on in the match as singles play began. Freshman Ausias Martin Melo, sophomore Hiiro Sakamoto and Pastor completed their courts with straight sets win. It didn't take too long for the Golden Eagles to start catching up on the scoreboard as Murariu took the win on Court 2 shortly after.

The match came to an end after Noale secured the clincher on Court 5, a victory the Trojans celebrated together on the court.

After this match, Troy is now 2-0 in conference play.

Troy is also now 11-0 at home and will stay at home this week for its next matchup, as it will take on Alabama State Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
