No. 57 Troy Hosts Three, Including Sun Belt Match

TROY, Alabama – The 57^th-ranked Troy men's tennis team will host three matches this weekend at the Lunsford Tennis Complex, including a Friday afternoon Sun Belt contest against Appalachian State at 2 p.m.

As part of the Troy Spring Invitational, the Trojans will also host New Orleans and South Carolina State on Saturday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively. Two matches not involving Troy will also be played at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Troy (17-5, 4-0) moved up five spots in the ITA National Team Rankings last week after defeating Xavier (La.) and Columbus State, the No. 6 NAIA team and No. 6 NCAA Division II teams, respectively.

The Trojans have won seven straight matches and 12 of their last 13 with the lone loss coming by a 4-3 score to No. 20 Tennessee.

Hassan Ndayishimye leads the Trojans with a 15-4 singles record, including a 10-2 mark on court No. 2. Ndayishimye has won four straight singles matches while Pablo Moreno and Giovani Samaha have each won five straight. Moreno and Samaha are 11-4 and 12-3 in singles play, respectively, this season.

Gabriel Dias, who spent a brief portion of the season ranked in the ITA National Singles rankings, is 10-5 on the season, including a 7-4 mark on court No. 1.

Appalachian State (6-8, 1-0) has won its last two matches, both by 7-0 scores, over Georgia Southern and Bethune-Cookman. Prior to that, the Mountaineers had lost four straight matches.

New Orleans (6-7) has lost three consecutive matches entering the weekend, two of them to ranked opponents in No. 33 LSU and No. 55 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

South Carolina State (10-1) will take on Appalachian State on Saturday morning before meeting with Troy. The Bulldogs have won 10 straight matches, including a 6-1 decision at Georgia Southern on Wednesday.
