TROY, Ala. - Troy men's tennis officially finished its match against Alabama A&M Saturday afternoon, with freshmen Ausias Martin Melo, Stephan Tavares Noale and sophomore Hiiro Sakamoto winning each of their courts, making the overall score 6-1 in Troy's favor.
Looking back to when the teams met the first time this season on Feb. 20, Troy (17-4) fell short during the doubles matches, with sophomore Juwan Bae and senior Yin Chih Lan winning on Court 2, 6-3, while senior Tasso Moreira and freshman Eduardo de Benedictis Andreta won on Court 3, 7.5.
As the Bulldogs went into singles play with the advantage, the Trojans turned things up a notch. Junior Luciano Alcocer, sophomore Thiago Drozdowski and senior Yeray Andres Pastor claimed finished courts with straight sets wins, right before the other singles matches came to a pause due to sudden poor weather.
Coming back to Saturday's matchup, Melo finished Court 1 with a straight sets win, while Sakamoto and Noale finished their courts in three sets.
The Trojans are now on a ten-match winning streak, which is the longest winning streak since 2021.
Troy will face off against Southern Miss Sunday morning at the Lunsford Tennis Complex. This 10 a.m. match will continue Sun Belt play for the Trojans.
