Trojans Open Jamboree With Win

TROY, Alabama – The Troy men's tennis team opened the Troy Trojan Jamboree with a 4-3 win over Nicholls on Friday at the Lunsford Tennis Complex. The Trojans morning match with Alabama A&M was canceled.
Troy (9-4) picked up easy wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to take the early lead over Nicholls (1-3). Gabriel Dais and Hassan Ndayishimye teamed up at No. 2 doubles for a 6-1 win, while Pablo Moreno and Andy Lau picked up a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles.
The Colonels took the lead with singles wins at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively, but Ndayishimye and Dias responded to give Troy control with wins at the top of the lineup.
Ndayishimye won over Partha Adavelly, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 2 singles to make the score 2-2. Dais, the 89th-ranked player in the ITA National Men's Singles Rankings, then beat Sam Meesen at No. 1, 6-4, 6-2, to give Troy a 3-2 lead.
Moreno clinched the match for the Trojans with his 7-6 (5), 6-4 win over Bernard Wezeman at No. 4 singles. Nicholls was able to make the final score 4-3 with a win at No. 3 singles.
Complete results are listed below. The Trojans will continue to host the Troy Trojan Jamboree tomorrow when they take on Sun Belt opponent Georgia Southern.
