No. 75 Men’s Golf in Second Following Day One at The Grove

COLLEGE GROVE, Tenn. – Paced by a pair of individuals in the top 10, No. 75 Troy is in second place following Sunday's opening round of The Intercollegiate at The Grove. Clayton Vannoy fired a 1-under 71 and is tied for fourth place, while Cam Norman played even and is tied for eighth.
The Trojans shot a 3-over 291 as a team thanks to a tournament-high 17 birdies in the opening round. Vannoy, Jared Bettcher and Luke Moser all finished with four birdies, while Calum Masters added three as Troy bounced back from a rocky start.
The Trojans found themselves 5-over as a team after just three holes and made the turn at 4-over, with Vannoy leading the way at 3-under. Bettcher and Masters played the back nine at 2-under and 1-under, respectively, to help Troy shoot 1-under as a team on the backside of the course.
No. 48 Lipscomb shot even par and leads Troy by three strokes, while No. 26 Kentucky is two shots back of Troy in third. Lipscomb's Stoney Crouch shot a 4-under 68 to grab the individual lead after 18 holes.
Bettcher finished his day at 1-over and sits in a tie for 11th, while Masters and Sean Stone are tied for 19th at 3-over; Stone is playing as an individual. Moser rounds out the field for the Trojans tied for 25th place after shooting a 4-over on Sunday.
Troy, Lipscomb and Kentucky will once again be paired together with second round tee times beginning at 10:03 a.m.
