JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – The Troy women's tennis team won its seventh straight match with a 4-1 victory on the road at Jacksonville State on Wednesday.
Troy (12-6) surrendered its lone point in a singles match that JSU won by default due to a Troy injury. The Trojans have now won 10 of the last 11 matches.
The doubles point was in doubt early as Jacksonville State (6-13) got a win at No. 2, but Troy recovered with an 8-3 win by Trang Huynh and Anja Cosovic at No. 1 to even the score. The duo is now 14-2 on the season with 13 straight wins.
Brooke Durden and Hannah Toro clinched the opening point for the Trojans with their 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles.
Troy's Lyubov Dorofeeva was injured, vacating her usual No. 2 position in the singles lineup. The Trojans moved everybody up one spot in the lineup, and JSU won at No. 6 singles by default to even the match at 1-1.
The Trojans cruised to the win, however, starting with Huynh at No. 1 who won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1. The sophomore has now won seven straight singles matches and is 14-4 on the season.
Cosovic followed Huynh with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles, also her seventh straight singles win. Cosovic is now 15-2 on the season with Wednesday's win being her first at the No. 2 spot.
