Troy Closes Regular Season This Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Troy women's tennis team has won seven straight matches and will close its regular season with three tough matches this week.
The Trojans will travel to Samford on Wednesday for a 2 p.m. match. They will then return to Birmingham, Ala., to take on UAB on Saturday at 2 p.m. and UL Monroe on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
Troy (12-6) has won seven straight matches and 10 of its last 11, including five straight away from home. This week's matches mark the final three before the Sun Belt Championships begin on Thursday, April 17, in New Orleans.
The Trojans are led at No. 1 singles by Trang Huynh who is 14-4 on the season and has won the last two Sun Belt Athlete of the Week awards. Huynh has won seven straight singles matches, as has Anja Cosovic at No. 3 single, while Lyubov Dorofeeva has won six straight at No. 2 singles.
In doubles play, Huynh and Cosovic are 14-2 on the season, including 13 straight wins.
Samford (16-2) has not lost at home this season with a perfect 11-0 record and has spent part of the season in the ITA National rankings. The Bulldogs are coming off of SoCon wins over Elon and UNCG last weekend.
UAB (8-12) hasn't played at home since March 15 and has gone 2-4 on the road since then. The Blazers most recent road trip resulted in losses at Miami and FIU.
UL Monroe (7-8) has won three straight, including victories over UL Lafayette and Southern Miss last weekend. The Warhawks are 2-3 against Sun Belt opponents this season while the Trojans are 2-1.
