Troy Has Winning Streak Snapped

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Troy women's tennis team saw its seven-match winning streak snapped in a 5-2 loss at Samford on Wednesday evening. The win was the fifth straight for Samford who is 12-0 at home this season.

Troy (12-7) won the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 3. Trang Huynh and Anja Cosovic moved to 15-2 on the season with an 8-3 win at No. 1 and have now won 14 straight matches.

Lyubov Dorofeeva and Hannah Toro won at No. 3, 8-5, to clinch the opening point for the Trojans.

Samford (17-2), however, won five of the six singles matches, with Huynh picking up Troy's lone win. The sophomore moves to 15-4 on the season in singles play as she defeated Stephanie N'tcha who retired just two games into the match. Huynh has now won eight straight singles matches.

Dorofeeva saw her six-match winning streak came to an end, as she had to retire before beginning her second set. The senior dropped the first set, 6-3.

Cosovic had the closest match of the day, but dropped just her third singles match of the season in a 7-5, 7-5 loss to Yasmeen Ebada. Cosovic is now 15-3 on the season and sees her seven-match winning streak come to an end.

Complete results are below. The Trojans return to the court this weekend when they return to Birmingham to take on UAB on Saturday and UL Monroe on Sunday. The Trojans then open the Sun Belt Championships on Thursday, April 17, in New Orleans.
