Trojans Top Ranked Nicholls State

THIBODAUX, La. – The Troy women's tennis team picked up a 4-1 road win over No. 72 Nicholls State on Saturday at the Colonel Tennis Complex.
Troy (3-5) has now played four road matches against ranked teams this season with Saturday's being the first time the Trojans have come out on top. Nicholls (2-3) only previous losses of the season came at No. 66 LSU and on a neutral court to No. 21 Auburn.
"I couldn't be more proud of the girls today," Troy head coach Rawia Elsisi said. "They fought so hard as a group to win this match for Troy. They played as one team and this is a great win for them against a ranked team."
The Trojans opened the match with two easy wins in doubles play. Anja Cosovic and Trang Huynh moved to 4-2 on the season with an 8-2 win at No. 1. After a loss at No. 2 doubles, Lyubov Dorofeeva and Brooke Durden won at No. 3 for Troy, 8-3, to clinch the opening point.
Huynh gave the Trojans a 2-0 lead as she cruised at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-1, over Stephanie Barnett of Nicholls. Dorofeeva put Troy up 3-0 with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles.
The Colonels got a point with a win at No. 4 singles, but Cosovic continued her hot play with a match-clinching 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles over Marie Aubert. Cosovic is now 6-1 in singles play this spring.
Troy's Margot Da Haan was up 5-0 in the first set at No. 5 singles when the match was clinched for the Trojans. Full results are below.
The Trojans return to the court on Sunday when they travel to take on New Orleans at 10:00 a.m.
