Live Scoring
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – First-year head coach Scott Kidd and the Troy men's tennis team begin their spring season on Saturday when the Trojans visit No. 33 Alabama.Â
The match is set to begin at 6 p.m. at Roberta Alison Baumgardner Indoor Tennis Facility. Live stats can be found at RollTide.com.
Troy returns five players from last year's team that went 8-17 and fell to Georgia State in the first round of the Sun Belt Championships. Three of those players (Mansingh Athare, Daniel Bustamante and Mansingh Athare) saw action for the Trojans this fall.
Kidd is in his first season as the Trojans' head coach after spending the last three seasons as an assistant coach at Clemson.Â
Prior to his time at Clemson, Kidd spent time at Auburn-Montgomery where he was the women's head coach for six year and the men's head coach for two seasons. During that time he won six NAIA National Championships.
The Trojans open their 2014 spring season against an Alabama team that is ranked No. 33 in the ITA National Team Rankings. The Crimson Tide feature the nation's 14th-ranked singles player in Daniil Proskura.
The match is the first of five during the season's opening week, with four of those coming against ranked teams on the road. Troy will travel to No. 36 Florida State, No. 28 Auburn and No. 68 Tulane over the next seven days.
