Men's Tennis Earns Spot in SBC Championship After Win Against Georgia Southern

ROME, Ga. - The No. 2-seeded Troy men's tennis dominates against Georgia Southern with a 4-0 win Saturday afternoon at the Rome Tennis Complex.
Troy (24-4) started doubles play with a 6-1 win on Court 1 from sophomore Thiago Drozdowski and freshman Stephan Tavares Noale. Georgia Southern tried to turn things in its favor, with freshmanWilly Mirarchi and senior Matthew Mitchell winning on Court 3, 7-5, but junior Luciano Alcocer and sophomore Hiiro Sakamoto clinched a 7-5 win on Court 2 and claimed the advantage point for Troy.
The competition began to heat up as the singles matches came into play. Senior Yeray Andres Pastor finished Court 3 with straight sets wins, while redshirt freshman Ausias Martin Melo won on Court 1, 2-6 6-3 6-2.
Things continued in Troy's favor, as freshman Stephan Tavares Noale became the match clincher with his 7[9]-6[7] 7-5 win on Court 5.
The Trojans are now on a seventeen-match winning streak and look to make it eighteen at the Sun Belt Championship match, where they will compete against No. 1 Old Dominion.
This matchup is set for Sunday afternoon at 12 p.m. CT. at the Rome Tennis Complex. This match marks the Trojans' first time playing in the final since 2015, which is also the last time they won the Sun Belt Championship title and made an NCAA appearance.
