Trojans Cruise to 11th Straight Win

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Troy women's tennis team ran its current winning streak to 11 matches with a 7-0 road shutout of Florida A&M on Friday. The Trojans currently hold the fifth longest winning streak in the nation.
Troy (15-4) opened the day by cruising through doubles play, dropping just five total games in the three matches. During their 11-match winning streak, the Trojans are now 25-2 on the doubles court. Included in that number is Anja Cosovic and Candela Munoz Giron who are now a perfect 10-0 as a pair on the season.
In singles play, Troy dropped just a combined 12 games in six straight-set victories, including Cosovic and Karoline Grymel who each won, 6-0, 6-0. Cosovic, playing at third singles, is now 14-5 in singles play in dual matches as a true freshman, while Grymel, playing at first singles, has won nine straight matches in her senior season.
Lyubov Dorofeeva's 6-1, 6-2 victory at second singles proved to be the clincher for Troy, coming after Grymel's win and Olivia Brooke Durden's 6-0, 6-1 win at sixth singles.
Munoz Giron and Rosaura Ramirez Vega were also winners in singles play for the Trojans, prevailing at fourth and fifth singles, respectively. Munoz Giron has now won eight straight singles matches. Complete results are below.
The Trojans return to the court on Tuesday when they host Alabama State at the Lunsford Tennis Complex at 2 p.m. The match is part of a doubleheader with the men's team and marks senior day for Grymel and Ramirez Vega on the women's side.
