Trojans Run Streak to 12 on Senior Day

TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's tennis team ran its current winning streak to 12 matches on Tuesday with a 7-0 win over Alabama State. The match marked the final at home for seniors Karoline Grymel and Rosaura Ramirez Vega as the pair was honored before the match at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
Troy (16-4) is now the owner of the third longest winning streak in the nation, behind UC Irvine (15) and IPFW (13) and just ahead of USC (11) and Rice (11). Troy puts its streak on the line again this Friday as they travel to take on nationally-ranked No.74 North Texas.
The Trojans opened doubles play in dominant fashion against Alabama State (4-17) as Grymel and Lyubov Dorofeeva won at first doubles 8-0. Ramirez Vega and Hannah Toro won 8-3 at second doubles.
Troy's third doubles team, Candela Munoz Giron and Anja Cosovic, remained perfect on the year, defeating ASU's pair 8-0. Cosovic and Munoz Giron are now 11-0 on the season and found themselves ranked 90th in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national doubles rankings. Troy is now 28-2 in doubles play during its current winning streak.
In singles play, Troy was just as dominant, dropping just eight total games in six straight-set wins, including two 6-0, 6-0 victories by Grymel at first singles and Olivia Brooke Durden at sixth singles
Three Trojans dropped just one game in their straight-set wins as Cosovic, Munoz Giron and Ramirez-Vega won at third, fourth and fifth singles, respectively. Dorofeeva also won for the Trojans at second singles.
Complete results are below. The Trojans return to the court this weekend when they travel to Denton, Texas, to take on No.74 North Texas on Friday and Middle Tennessee on Saturday in the final two matches of the regular season.
