Trojans Set for MT Shootout

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Troy men's tennis team will begin play in the two-day MT Shootout on Saturday morning when it plays South Alabama. The fifth-seeded Trojans and fourth-seeded Jaguars will begin at 8:30 a.m.
Troy (7-11) will paly a second match on Saturday, at 3 p.m. against either first-seed No.43 Middle Tennessee or DePaul. The Trojans will conclude their portion of the tournament on Sunday at either 8:30 a.m. or 12 p.m.
The Trojans come in having lost five straight, including a home match against UAB on Wednesday. Prior to their current skid, the Trojans had won six straight matches.
Troy is led on the season by Sami Ghorbel who has posted an 11-4 record in dual match singles play. However, he has lost his last two matches, at third and second singles, respectively.
Anas Rouchdi, who is 9-7 on the season, is 8-4 at first singles where he is currently playing.
South Alabama (8-9) has not played in over two weeks with its last match being a 5-2 loss to North Florida on March 12. Despite an overall record under .500, the Jaguars have some quality victories with three wins over ranked opponents this season.
