Troy Falls at No.1 Florida

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Troy women's tennis team closed out a stretch of three-straight against ranked teams with a loss to No.1 Florida on Wednesday afternoon.
The Trojans (0-3) fell to the defending National Champion Gators, 7-0, at the Ring Tennis Complex. The loss to the top ranked Gators (1-0) comes after Troy dropped its first two matches to No.7 Georgia and No.46 Kansas State.
“Florida is one of the strongest teams I have seen in years,” said head coach Eric Hayes. “They are very well coached.
“There is a reason we opened our season with these matches. It will pay off as we go deeper in our season. It starts this Saturday against Auburn.”
The Trojans host the Tigers at the Lunsford Tennis Complex in Troy on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The match will mark the home opener for the Trojans. Be sure to check back with TroyTrojans.com for a full preview of the match.

FLORIDA 7, TROY 0
Troy opened the match with three losses in doubles point, two of them to ranked competition. Troy's Lyubov Dorofeeva and Karoline Grymel fell to the 10th-ranked pair in the nation in the first doubles spot as they were defeated by Florida's Sofie Oyen and Allie Will.
The Trojans also faced the 15th-ranked team of Lauren Embree and Joanna Mather in the second doubles spot as Troy's Samya El Hsissen and Candela Munoz Giron fell to the ranked pair.
Olfa Dhaoui and Rosaura Ramirez-Vega competed in the final doubles but also fell to the Gators pair.
In singles action, Dhaoui fell to Embree, who is ranked 25th in the nation, in the No.2 lineup spot to mark the first match completed. Ramirez-Vega fell to Oyen, the 34th-ranked player in the nation, at the fifth spot in the lineup.
El Hsissen fell in the sixth spot in the lineup in the match that clinched the outcome for the Gators.
The Trojans also faced ranked competition in the first and third spots in the lineup as Grymel fell third-ranked Will at No.1 and Dorofeeva fell to 41st-ranked Alexandra Cercone at No.3.
Munoz Giron competed in the fourth spot in the lineup for the Trojans.
The win extended a 22-match winning streak for Florida who won the NCAA Championship a season ago. The win also extended their overall home win streak to 96 matches and their regular-season home win streak to 103.
