In-state rivals meet Friday afternoon at Lunsford Tennis Complex

TROY, Ala. (TroyTrojans.com) – The Troy University men's tennis team will return home Friday afternoon, after having played last weekend on the road in the Sun Belt Shootout. The Trojans will hit the hardcourts of the Lunsford Tennis Complex at 2:30 pm Friday afternoon against in-state rival UAB.
The match is just the third this season for the Trojans at the Lunsford Tennis Complex, splitting the first two matches.
TROY (3-15) is looking to snap a three-match losing streak stemming from the Sun Belt Shootout in which they lost to 66th-ranked DePaul, Middle Tennessee and South Alabama.
Although the Trojans dropped all three matches at the tournament, sophomore Anas Rouchdi won both of his matches at number one singles that were finished in the tournament – Middle Tennessee and South Alabama. The two wins run his record to 4-2 at number one singles, taking over the position from senior Branko Weber on March 19 against Florida A&M.
The Trojans also got wins from Niklas Jonsson (Middle Tennessee) and Mansingh Athare (South Alabama) at number six singles, while Weber was able to split his two matches at number three singles against Middle Tennessee and South Alabama. Since moving to number three singles, Weber has compiled a 4-2 record.
The Trojans have two matches remaining on their regular season schedule in 2011, playing Friday afternoon and then again by celebrating Senior Day on April 16 against Georgia State.
Admission is free for all home tennis matches at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
