Blazers claim road win over Trojans, one home match left for TROY

TROY, Ala. (TroyTrojans.com) - UAB won their fifth consecutive match as they down the Troy University men's tennis team 4-3 in non-conference action at the Lunsford Tennis Complex on Friday evening.

After splitting the first two doubles matches, the point came down to the match at number one between
TROY's Branko Weber and Marion Rolemberg and the UAB team of David Zimmerman and Tim Puetz. After battling throughout the match, UAB got the one service break it needed to take the match 8-6, and consequently take the lead in the overall match.

In singles play the Blazers won matches three matches to take the overall victory as Danny Manlow defeated Rolemberg at number four singles 6-2, 6-2. The Blazers also won at number six where Chris Helliar defeated Mansingh Athare 6-1, 6-3; and at number five where Daniel Moser clinched the match for the visitors with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Niklas Jonsson.

Although the match was all ready decided, the Trojans were able to get wins at the top three spots in the order.
Freshman Sami Ghorbel picked up a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Puetz at number three, while Anas Rouchdi continued his hot play at number one with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Lucas Dirube. Meanwhile, Branko Weber moved up to number two singles for the day and dispatched of ZImmerman 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (10-7).

The Trojans will celebrate Senior Day at 12 noon on April 17 when they play host to Georgia State at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
