MONROE, La. – The Troy University women's tennis team hits the road this weekend to face 46th-ranked ULM at 12 noon Sunday afternoon in Sun Belt Conference action.
TROY (5-11), winners of three consecutive matches just two weeks ago, will face the hottest team in the Sun Belt in the Warhawks – winners of 11 consecutive matches. ULM has not lost a match since dropping a 4-0 decision to nationally-ranked SMU back on January 22.
The Trojans are coming off a loss to SEC foe Auburn University, but will turn to number one player Karoline Grymel, who has won five of her last six singles matches – including two consecutive matches. She will be matched up against multiple Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week, Claire Clark, at that position on Sunday as the two went a grueling three sets last season at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
TROY will also turn to senior Leonie Guijt (7-9) at number three singles and freshman Lyubov Dorafeeva (6-10) at number four singles to provide energy on Sunday afternoon. Freshman Olivia Battye (4-9) has seen action at number five and six singles; while Olfa Dhaoui (5-11) has seen action at number one and two singles.
The Trojans will also rely on their doubles teams to attempt to derail ULM, as the duo of Grymel and Guijt has recorded a 9-7 record at number one doubles – winners of four of five of their last matches. The number two team of Dhaoui and Rosaura Ramirez-Vega has posted a 5-10 record; while the number three team of Dorafeeva and Battye has posted a 6-8 record at number three.
The match on Sunday will be sixth match against a ranked team for the Trojans.
