Trojans face third SEC opponent this season
Statistics/Match Notes
TROY, Ala. – For the third time this season, the Troy University women's tennis team will hit the road to face an opponent from the Southeastern Conference – facing Auburn University Saturday afternoon at 4 pm.
Troy (5-10) will be playing their third SEC opponent on the road this season when they hit the courts at the Yarbrough Tennis Center Saturday afternoon – having fallen to 22nd-ranked Mississippi (7-0) and falling short against Mississippi State (4-3) in February.
The Trojans have never defeated Auburn (2-11) in their history but will look to an upper class laden top three to end the drought against the Southeastern Conference. Sophomore Karoline Grymel has played against some of the toughest competition the nation has to offer at number one singles, as she has posted a 5-9 record in those matches. She has also played at number two this season, where she won her only match of the season.
Junior Olfa Dhaoui will see action at number two for the Trojans, where she has posted a 5-9 record; while senior Leonie Guijt is the number three player for the Trojans where she has posted a 7-8 record in dual matches and is 14-14 overall this season (including the fall).
A pair of freshmen play at number four and six for the Trojans, as doubles partners Lyubov Dorafeeva (6-9 at number four) and Olivia Battye (4-8 at number six) have won some big matches for the Trojans to help clinch victories this season. Meanwhile, sophomore Rosaura Ramirez-Vega has made the transition from soccer and has posted a 3-9 record so far this spring at number five singles.
The Trojans have won three of their last five matches – including winning three consecutive matches on the road against SIU-Edwardsville, Lehigh and Toledo last week in Florida.
Admission is free for the matches at the Yarbrough Tennis Center in Auburn on Saturday afternoon.
