BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Troy blasted four home runs to rocket past UAB 14-5 in its final midweek game of the season on Tuesday.

The Trojans (27-26) were led by centerfielder Steven Meier, who picked up the second multi-homer game of his career while adding a career best seven RBIs. Meier started the scoring with a two-run double off of UAB (29-23) starter Konner Keplinger, before launching a three-homer in the sixth and a two-run shot in the eighth.

Troy starter Drew Nelson pitched 3.1 innings while striking out a season high five hitters. Nelson surrendered five runs on four hits, including a two-run homer by John Paul Head in the first and a solo shot by Alex Dupuy in the fourth. Nelson left with the bases loaded in the fourth, and the Blazers tied the game at 5-5 with an RBI fielder's choice and a double steal.

After allowing two inherited runners to score in the fourth, freshman Matt Dill went on to earn the win with 3.2 innings without an earned run. Dill limited the Blazers to three hits with one walk and one strikeout before Cooper Ellingworth and Brady Richardson kept them off the board in the eighth and ninth.

For the Trojans, Aaron Piasecki, Blake Cavill and Sean Darnell added a pair of two-hit performances while Troy drew nine walks to four strikeouts, including two walks with the bases loaded. Dillon Kuehl drew two walks and added a sac fly while Jabe Boroff launched his third homer of the season in the seventh inning. Darnell scored Troy's final run by hitting back-to-back bombs with Meier in the eighth.

Troy's record moves to 27-26. It's the first time this season the Trojans have climbed above .500.
Troy hit four home runs for the third time this season. The Trojans also homered four times in wins over Mercer on February 14 and South Alabama on Saturday
Steven Meier recorded the second multi-homer game of his career. His first came against East Carolina on February 24, 2024, during his junior season at Old Dominion.
Meier added a career-high seven RBIs. He's the first Trojan with a seven-RBI game since Kyle Mock against Louisiana on May 3, 2024.
Meier's three-run homer in the sixth inning was his eighth of the season. It traveled 359 feet with an exit velocity of 100 MPH.
Meier's two-run shot in the eighth was his ninth of the season, which is a new career high after he hit eight for the Trojans last season. It traveled 403 feet with an exit velocity of 105 MPH.
Jabe Boroff's homer to lead off the seventh inning was his third of the season. It had an exit velocity of 97 MPH, while the distance did not register on Trackman.
Sean Darnell's solo home run in the eighth inning was his fourth of the season. It traveled 415 feet with an exit velocity of 102 MPH.
Drew Nelson's five strikeouts were a season high.
Matt Dill tossed 3.2 scoreless innings of relief. It was his longest relief appearance of the season.
